I became a triathlete in 2019. I heard about the indoor triathlons at St. Peters Rec Plex from Bill Sanders and knew I wanted to try it. I knew I wasn’t a strong swimmer, so the pool swim felt like a good, safe place to start. That year I also did Try Tri Illinois and Rookies and Rockstars. I was hooked on the sport and joined the club for the 2021 season as I prepared for my first 70.3. The club was a great way to stay connected and motivated during training, and I loved the camaraderie out at local races. My family (wife Robyn (33), and kids Jack (7) and Amelia(4); Tri ages) are now club members and Jack is working up his swim ability to come out to the New Town Kids Triathlon. I look forward to all the hard training and good times ahead with the club.
What is your favorite and least favorite gel flavor?
Still working on perfecting a homemade concoction and testing different flavors.
What is your favorite place in or around St. Louis to train?
There are a ton of great trails to run on that have great views and hill workouts built in!
What is your favorite thing about triathlon?
While this is an individual sport, I’ve never met anyone that wasn’t willing and ready to help another triathlete in need. That creates a great atmosphere and makes every event seem like a good one, even when your individual performance didn’t meet your expectations.
