Jen Nozka

I started in triathlon about 15 years ago when I participated in 3 area sprint races.  After a long break, I decided to get back into it and do a half ironman.  I joined the club 2 years ago to learn more about reaching the goal of completing a half. In 2024  I completed a full Ironman. I have twins, Alex and Aniela (24) and when I’m not working or training for triathlons, I love to go hiking.
When/Where was your first triathlon?
My first triathlon was the shortest triathlon I could find which was at Southeast Missouri State back around 2010!

What is your favorite and least favorite gel flavor?
I haven’t tried a lot of gels
Favorite: UCAN Pineapple
Least favorite: UCAN Strawberry Banana

What is your favorite race?
I like volunteering at the Lakeside 370 Triathlon.  It’s a great park and course!

What is the most challenging moment you’ve had during a race?
The most challenging moment I’ve had during a race was when I wore my glasses to the start line and had to put them in my wetsuit and hope they didn’t break by the time I got to transition!

What is your favorite place in or around St. Louis to train?
My favorite place to train for the bike is on the Madison County Trail (MCT) in Illinois.  It’s quite flat, but allows for a long continuous trail that is pretty safe.

What is your favorite thing about triathlon?
I like being able to do all three sports.  I like that after you do one sport, you’re done and move on to the next!

What is the one piece of tri-geek gear you can’t live without?
I can’t live without my bike computer and heartrate monitor!
